Music For Forgotten Places

Requiem for a Ruined Home

Nocturne for a Hidden Patch

Music for Forgotten Places is a celebration of non-places and the journey of exploration and discovery. Created by Oliver Blank, a composer from New Orleans, who creates sound toys (iPhone apps) and public installations, permitting residents to interact with sound. At each lost landmark the explorer can discover the hand-made wooden sign, each engraved with a unique phone number. If they choose to call the number a piece of specially composed music will play.

'Requiem for a Ruined Home' is the only composition you can preview. Only by visiting the lost landmark and calling the number are you able to listen to the compositions, which only strengthens the relationship to the forgotten place and the composition.
